Documentation is required for works on arterial roads managed by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, on council-managed roads where the works affect traffic flow, and for construction projects where planning or building permit conditions specify one.

It depends on the road. Works on arterial roads go through the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which administers applications via its Roadworks Portal and Traffic Management Centre. Works on local roads go through the relevant council. Jobs that touch both need both. If you are not sure which applies to your site, send us the address and we will tell you.

It is the system the Department for Infrastructure and Transport uses to receive and assess roadworks permit applications for arterial roads in South Australia. Traffic plans are submitted through it, and a current workzone traffic management card is needed to access it. We prepare documentation formatted for portal submission.

A TMP is the broader written document that covers staging, methodology and risk for a larger or longer project, and it includes a project risk assessment. Clients often ask for a TMP when a TGS is what the authority actually wants. Send us the scope and we will tell you which one you need before you pay for anything.

It is the council authorisation that lets you alter or work on a public road in South Australia, issued under Section 221 of the Local Government Act 1999. It is the one most civil and construction jobs need. Most councils will not issue it without a traffic plan attached, so we prepare the plan and the application together and lodge them for you.
